Richard Snyder, Partner
In the day and age of high technology, Internet, and instant everything there still is a great place to come with others and have some fun. “It’s a family oriented place,” says Richard Snyder, one the owners. And that it is. From very young children to seniors, Lee’s Lanes remains a popular place. Would you believe three year olds could join a league? Sure enough, every Saturday morning Lee’s Lanes holds a Junior Bowling League program that is instructional and fun. Divided into four levels of Bumpers, Bantaans, Juniors and Seniors, three to 21 year olds may join, and it is open enrollment. It’s held on Saturday mornings and is very inexpensive at $6.00 a week.

Seniors enjoy bowling immensely and there are a number that visit Lee’s to bowl during the day. They appreciate their time together and find bowling to be a great exercise. Their appreciation even extends to bringing home cooked goodies to Richard! Senior Bowling is open Monday through Saturday until 6 p.m. at a low $1.50 per game. Part of Lee’s Lanes philosophy is to keep the pricing reasonable and low.

The Bowling alley has 34 lanes, snack bar, pro shop and a lounge and hosts over 50 bowling leagues with more than 1,100 league bowlers. On Saturday they have a Super Saturday night special called Moonlight Bowling from midnight to 3 a.m. A flat fee of $8.00 per bowler with free shoes makes this an inexpensive night of fun. Sundays are another great day and from 7 to 9 p.m., you can rent-a-lane for only $5.00 per bowler. This is open to everyone and bumpers are available. The best bargains are during the day. Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon you can bowl for 99 cents a game! Fridays offer extended hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the same price. You can’t beat that.

Lee’s Lanes also hosts parties and groups for $25.00 for two hours with up to six people per lane. Bumpers are available and shows are free. You can bring your own food, drinks and party goodies or even order pizza in. A lot of birthday parties and other groups go to Lee’s Lanes.

Many churches and organizations also use Lee’s Lanes for fund raising. Richard told me that groups earn $1,000 to $5,000 by selling sponsorships. Lee’s offers a complete package to assist these groups in accomplishing their fund raising efforts and only charges minimal fees as their contribution.

Richard Snyder’s partner is Walter Zimmerman. They purchased Lee’s in October of 1998. Harold Lee founded the business in 1960. Richard, from Philadelphia, and Walter from New Jersey, both owned two other bowling alleys outside of Philadelphia when they heard about Lee’s being up for sale. They both moved here and have successfully been running Lee’s since. The Lanes are open at 9:00 a.m. every day and close at 10 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. They close at midnight on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturdays they close at 3 a.m.

Lee’s Lane’s is located at 2780 River Road in Parks Township (between North Vandergrift and Leechburg). You may call them at 724-567-5963.
