The swimmers at Highlands have set themselves resolutely on a mission: getting better.

Coach Melissa McCurdy explains, "My team is a very determined team and stops at no cost! They want to succeed! The kids on this team are very goal-oriented. They have made goals for themselves and are trying their best to achieve them. Many of the swimmers have achieved personal best times and qualified for WPIAL Championships!"

The team has also grown larger. McCurdy notes, "We have built up our boys' program from six boys last year to thirteen boys this year. We also have added some freshmen that have a lot of talent to this team."

And it is a crew of students who have made this year one that the coach has relished.

"I like meeting the many talented young students who are not involved only in the swim team, but also many other activities throughout the school and community," says McCurdy. "I enjoy the many personalities and the willingness to try new approaches."
