The school doesn't have an official team, but under WPIAL rules, students are allowed to compete in the name of the school as independent individuals. Students at smaller schools who wish to swim competitively for their school pretty much have to do it on their own. They get up and find their own pools. They practice on their own… there's no one to meet usually. Your swimmers at a school like this are serious about what they do.
Hillary says what drives them is "the love of their sport, and wanting to represent their school, who has no team, and put their school on the map, just carrying on a tradition." Obviously, they have made an impression upon her.
"They're hard-working, dedicated, and enthusiastic for their sport," Borland explains. "Each swimmer is different. They'll do almost anything. They're such a good group of kids." She details just how enthusiastic they are, and what they do, here, in the video interview.
