If you like to eat and be entertained then The Gray Goose Restaurant and Lounge in Verona is the place to visit. They are offering more than just their good steaks everyone loves by introducing a Mystery Dinner Theater twice a month. You can have a great meal, enjoy an interactive mystery play and be guaranteed to have the best evening of the month.
The Gray Goose is a popular local eatery that opened its doors in 1933 under the name of Futules, a Greek family. It was a very popular Greek restaurant but after 70 years it was time for retirement. It was taken over by two local Verona men, Bob McMahon and George Soilis. They changed the name to “The Gray Goose”, and brought in Nick Malucci, a seasoned chef with 30 years cooking experience. Like them he is also a Verona resident. A few years ago Bob McMahon became the sole owner.
The first Mystery Dinner Theater play scheduled for this September will be “All This Talk Is Killing Me” by James Dobb. Created around a Talk Show it will feature a flamboyant Cooking Chef (what better role for a restaurant setting!), a barber and a very lonely housewife. “Gabby” will be the outrageous talk show host along with the station owner, a young production assistant and a janitor who lives for Elvis.
Everything will start at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers and cocktails following by the approximate two and half hour play at 7:15 p.m. Dinner will be served during the play by the actors. But, you just don’t get to watch the play. Audience participation will make for an even more exciting time (one part will be ballots to vote on “who done it”).
