Sometimes cheerleading squads have differing amounts of experience.

Cheswick Christian Academy, whose cheer program was first initiated three years ago by now-junior Amanda Buirge, sees experience levels from novice to National Champions in their program.

So, Coach Brenda McGee and her daughters Janaye and Jatara drilled the squad on fundamentals at first.

"This year the girls want to try their hand at competitions so we are doing more strengthening exercises to enable us to stunt more," McGee says.

"We have two girls, Amanda and Jatara [both part of the National Championship squad] who do gymnastics and we have other girls willing to try."

The Chargers' cheerleaders this year are composed of seniors Janet Didiano, Hannah Johnson, Michelle Eckert, Samantha Bradburn; juniors Amanda Buirge, Rachel Johnson, Kristina Nulph; sophomore Logan Jones; freshmen Gina Albanese, Megan Horrell, and Allison Buirge; and 7th grade coaches assistant Jatara McGee.
