Hey Hey You gotta check these athletes out. They all made the AK region look good recently: Apollo-Ridge wrestler
Michael Coleman, Jr. took third place in the Section 1 AA WPIAL playoffs at 145lbs. He lost in the semi-finals but wrestled back to third place. Coleman, a junior at Apollo-Ridge, owns a 16- 8 record and qualified for the WPIAL Individual Championships held at the end of February. Apollo-Ridge doesn't even have a wrestling team but Michael represents the school as an independent wrestler. And he made the WPIAL championships! HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

Kiski Area's Hockey team is 18-1 coming down the home stretch to the season's end. 18-1--that's some mighty fine work by the Cavs!!

The
Cheswick Christian Academy Chargers boys' basketball team advanced to the finals of the Southwest Christian Athletic Conference, played in late February after this issue went to press. It is the fifth time in a row the Chargers have made it to the finals, held this year at Penn-State New Ken. Well done, Chargers!
The Burrell wrestlers finished their team season as WPIAL Class AA Team Championship Runner-Ups! [You can catch their exciting Championship match, as well as several other matches, on Comcast On Demand, courtesy of Alle-Kiski Today] And in early February the Bucs' Devon Maloney joined teammate Josh Shields in passing the 100-career win mark this season! Five Burrell wrestlers wrestled in the States… Four came back with medals! Josh Shields got a Second-place Silver Medal, Shane Welsh took Third Place, Devon Maloney for Burrell placed fifth, and Burrell's Damian Majocha took sixth place. Go Bucs!
