Brittany Beasley
There are so many opportunities in the world to improve the life of others. There are organizations, programs, and foundations in all of our communities designed to bring some type of relief to those in need. The gift of serving others is very important to the Beasley family. Brittany and her brother Brandon have both invested many hours volunteering at the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation where their mother works. Some of the work that Brittany has done is helping with mailings, and working at the 5K races and car cruises. This heart of giving is something that her parents hope she carries into the rest of her life.

Brittany has been attending school at Pittsburgh East in Plum Borough since she began kindergarten. She does very well academically and doesn't mind going that extra mile to make sure everything is done with excellence. In fact, her "State Notebook" received one of the highest grades in the class with a whopping 107%. This fourth grade independent project teaches students about the government structure within state and local levels, maps and symbols, and history. Brittany received extra points on her project for turning it in early and for doing extra work on it. Although the project was pretty involved, the teacher, Mrs Larko, laid it out in simple steps that the students could follow.

Every year the students have a project to do. In third grade, their project was to make a "Parable TV." The students had to take a parable from the Bible and put it on a scroll inside a television-like box with knobs on the top to move the frames along. The requirements for the project included a specific number of frames, a title page, and a summary page. Brittany chose to do her project on "The Good Samaritan" out of Luke 10:25-37. Next year their project will be building a tabernacle. Each of the projects are involved but it is rewarding to see what they accomplish at the end of it.

Because school sports activities don't begin for students until the fifth grade, Brittany decided to join a couple of outside teams. She tried her skills on the basketball court last season through the Monroeville Assembly of God's "Upward Basketball Program" and found that she is quite the athlete. It was the first time she played the sport, but she did an excellent job. The team had a great season only losing two games. She plans to try out for the fifth grade basketball team this coming year. Brittany has also had some experience kicking around the ball on the soccer field. She played for the Plum league in kindergarten and third grade. Although this was a lot of fun, Brittany has found that her favorite sport is basketball.

This year Brittany has spent some time jet setting around the country. She went to Disney Land on Vacation, visited West Virginia twice for family reunions, and went to Hidden Valley with her cousin. While she was in West Virginia she went to White Sulfur Springs Greenbrier for four days and took horseback riding lessons, learned how to take care of the horses, brushed them, and fed them carrots.

Brittany is also very active in church activities at the First Baptist Church of Monroeville. She participates in the "Kids Club" on Wednesday nights and has also been a part of the choir for the past three years. She practices for the choir one hour a week at the church.

Not one to sit still, Brittany enjoys being involved as much as possible, and always gives her all. Brittany lives in Plum Borough with her parents, Toni and Mike Beasley, and her brother.
