Seth Napierkowski
Baseball, hot dogs and apple pie are the all-American theme this time of year. Another great example of what America is all about is the talent and determination of our children and the parents behind them. Seth Napierkowski's life is just one good example of how this formula works.

Seth, a 7th grader at Burrell Middle School, has been involved with high school and community based sports for years. He has been participating in the Burrell Little League program since he was five years old. He started out in T-Ball with his dad as the coach. His dad continued to work with him up until last year when he became president of the little league organization. Baseball is his favorite sport, the one that he is best at, and the one he has been playing the longest

His basketball career began several years ago and then he began football last year and plays the position of quarterback. Seth also attended the high school football camp. His dad coaches for the 9th grade football team so he worked with Seth and helped him out with positioning. He also has an interest in golfing. For the past several years his dad had taken him out during the football and basketball seasons.

His dad, Rich, has invested in every one of Seth's interests in some way. Although he doesn't participate in basketball, his dad is always there rooting him on. Everyone in Seth's family is sports' oriented, so in Seth's spare time you can find him tossing around the ball with his dad, his sister or even his dog.

When Seth isn't practicing for or participating in sports, he really enjoys helping out his mother, Kathy, who works at Animal Protectors in New Kensington. He has been doing this for three or so years. Periodically they go to Memorial Park in New Kensington or Burrell Lake Park and set up for different festivals and other events. He helps set up tents and put together the animal stuff. When Seth is older he will be able to walk the dogs.

Although Seth is academically gifted and has straight A's he still spends about 1-½ hours studying each night. His favorite subjects are Science and Geography.

Seth enjoys the time that he gets to spend with his family and looks forward to their family vacations. They don't go every year but when they do go, it is always very nice. In the past they have gone on a cruise and they might be going to Niagara Falls or Ocean City. Seth lives in Upper Burrell with his parents and his sister Tess. They attend St. Margaret Mary's Church on Leechburg Road in Lower Burrell.
