When speaking with him I quickly saw a very bright and warm child and was able to understand why he was so popular. Michael said his favorite subject is Social Studies because he likes to learn about history. He also enjoys music and got to go on a field trip with the class this year. They went to Penn State and got to meet some men from Brazil. They showed the students how people from Brazil dress and dance. Michael even got to dance with them.
Outside of school, Michael is very involved in sports. Last year he played basketball but didn't like it very much; the baskets are pretty high up off the ground when you are only eight years old. This year he decided to stick to football and baseball. He played football for two years on the Hawks and the Pee Wee teams. The Hawks made it to the play-offs but then they lost to Highlands.
The Pee Wee team didn't win any games, but that didn't matter to Michael; he enjoyed it just the same. He said football is his favorite sport and the best part of it for him is the tackling. His dad, Michael, is the coach on the Hawks football team. Although Michael has played baseball for fun, this is the first year that he will be playing on a team. He just signed up and will be playing on the Valley team.
Michael attends the Harvest Baptist Church in New Kensington. He really enjoys Sunday school there. They have contests, give out candy, "teach about stuff," and do riddles for gum. He also likes to ride his bike and play video games. Michael's academic career has not only gotten off to a wonderful start, it has continued to remain a very positive experience. I'm sure that we will see amazing things coming from him in the future. His pleasant attitude and enthusiasm for all that he does almost guarantees it
