With sincere appreciation, Mr. Clark praises the faculty, parents, and students for their incredibly warm welcome. He notes, “The staff, parents, and students are wonderful. They been extremely helpful and the students are respectful and very open.” In addition, Mr. Clark explains that one aspect that makes Apollo Ridge unique is the “small size with a family atmosphere.” One of the awards Mr. Clark applauds the school for receiving is being identified as an “Academic Out performer” by the Standard & Poor’s School Evaluation Services. Apollo – Ridge is one of only 55 districts in Pennsylvania to receive this recognition. ” He goes on to say, “Our school and community are supportive of each other. This school is one of western Pennsylvania’s best kept secrets!”
Mr. Clark brings a well rounded background to the district. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in secondary math education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and then attended Virginia Tech to obtain a Master’s in Educational Leadership. During his nine and a half years of teaching in northern Virginia, he coached baseball for two years and football for four years. In addition, he served four years as an administrative intern. As a math teacher he received the award of “Who’s Who among High School Teachers.” Since he and his wife, Christina, are from Lower Burrell, they decided to move back to the area to be near their families.
Though Mr. Clark just joined the Apollo – Ridge team in June, he is quickly getting to know the students. He makes it a point to walk down the halls and learn the kids’ names, as well as to give the students a chance to meet him. His friendly, helpful attitude exudes warmth which genuinely cares about each student. He explains, “I’m a people person. I like to talk to people and listen to their ideas.”
Clearly the most rewarding part of his job is “seeing the success of students.” “I enjoy seeing my teachers and students do well. I know what it’s like in the classroom. I appreciate all the hard work the teachers do. I want to support them, as well as the students.” With this perspective of leadership, Mr. Clark propels everyone toward greater success.
