Here, in the northeast corner of the Greater Pittsburgh region, we are surrounded by a land whose story of great things long ago is obscured by the fogs of time. Here heroic men and women made something great out of nothing. They carved roads through a wilderness, invented revolutionary building materials, helped birth the gas and oil industries, provided warriors to fight—and win—one of the nation’s bloodiest battles for freedom, and made a way for a newborn nation to preserve its food supply. Presidents, celebrities, entertainers and Very Important People all came to see and appear before those who came before us here a century ago.

Over the past two years, Alle-Kiski Today has chronicled many of these tales of greatness. You can find them on our website in the Our Local Heritage column. But we have also gone to these locations and videoed many those who tell the story of our heritage and help keep our region’s legacy alive. Now that many people have access to broadband speeds, we encourage you to go to www.alle-kiskitoday.com/webcasts/archive/78 and watch these for yourselves. Here are brief looks at them:

Vaudeville In Vandergrift It's the story of Vandergrift's majestic centerpiece, the Casino Theatre and visits there by Vaudeville players--many of whom are today household words. Enjoy a trip of exploration with your tour guide, Casino Theatre President, Allan Walzak. You might just find out what famous Hollywood legend used to visit there quite often in his youth, as well as what ex-president visited. http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/webcasts/1691
