When you think of an Orthodontist you probably think of braces. Although that is one part of their work, there is much more. Dr. Bob says on his web site, “Recent research is showing a possible link between dental plaque and heart disease, along with other health problems.” He outlines specific treatments in detail with photos to help educate those seeking treatment. If you are considering treatment for your children, reading this detailed information will be very helpful. Dr. Bob points out very important forms of treatment in his “Treatment Philosophy”. You can learn more by visiting the web site at: http://www.drkreashko.com/treatments.html.
Dr. Bob follows The American Association of Orthodontics recommendations that every child first visits an orthodontist at age seven. It may be even younger if a problem has been noted by a parent, family dentist, or child physician. Orthodontists can improve smiles at any age, but there is usually a best age for treatment to begin. Early treatment could prevent removal of permanent teeth and jaw surgery. There is no age limit for orthodontics. Nearly 25% of today's orthodontic patients are adults. For those concerned with the way braces look, consider clear, InvisAlign braces. Also, complete upper and lower braces are not always needed. Treatment time is usually between 6 and 24 months. He points out that it is never too late to get the smile you always wanted.
One thing is for sure; you will receive the latest up to date technology and treatment by Dr. Bob. He continues his education with courses on new technology and developments in the orthodontic field. His use of technology and state-of-the-art appliances helps to reduce the number of appointments needed, as well as the total amount of time necessary for treatment.
Many do not realize the training an Orthodontist undergoes. Dr. Bob attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. He continued his education to earn a four-year dental degree from University of Pittsburgh's School of Dental Medicine. Upon completion of his dental degree, he participated in an elective, one-year general dentist residency at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. He continued his education by completing a three-year orthodontic residency at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Dental Medicine. He also completed a teaching fellowship in the orthodontic program. As part of his education, Dr. Bob completed a research project on temporo-mandibular joint disorders (TMD) at University of Pittsburgh's Pain Institute. This and other research by Dr. Kreashko was presented at regional and dental and orthodontic conferences.
Dr. Bob is a native of Leechburg where he played football and baseball for the Blue Devils. He is married to Lisa and they have two children, Travis and Alexis. He also wrote a play called Camp Life. This play will be on stage next March at the Penn State New Kensington Theater. It is being produced by the New Kensington Civic Theater group. All proceeds will be donated back to the New Kensington Civic Theater. He also wrote a song (lyrics only) that was a finalist in the www.songoftheyear.com contest in 2005. Dr. Bob believes in giving back to the community. He sponsors at least six youth sports teams a year in baseball, girl’s softball and soccer, with annual donations and sponsorships to about 15 additional organizations in the region.
