Bob Oberdorf
Bob Oberdorf combines his great love of sports with a strong 32-year career at the Leechburg School District as he takes the position of High School Athletic Director.

Inspired by his father-in-law Bob Nigra, Bob Oberdorf sees a clear benefit to improving the educational system. Mr. Nigra made a difference at Leechburg as Superintendent of Schools, and again at Clarion University as the Business Manager.

Bob Oberdorf forged his career path with a degree in Elementary Education. Bob returned to Leechburg High School, his alma mater, teaching sixth and seventh grades at the Junior High School. Bob is already an experienced Athletic Director, having served the position from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s.

Bob has great respect for Tony Cantanese, the previous Athletic Director. Tony has kept the program on track and Bob plans to continue on that narrow road. Directing athletics is no small task; Bob must arrange game and competition schedules and schedule all the officials. He is also responsible for balancing the athletic budget. Most important, Bob must be there for athletic coaches, to assist them in times of need.

Bobs primary goal is focused on the students. He hopes to help coaches encourage more students to be involved in Leechburg's athletic programs. He recognizes that his best help comes from parents. When parents get involved, the children follow.

Before Bob graduated in 1967 he was a part of two WPIAL championship football teams - the last two football champions to come from Leechburg. Bob is not interested in stopping there. In the last 26 years Bob has coached baseball, football, boys and girls basketball, softball and volleyball. There exist just two sports in the district he has not coached. One of Bobs baseball players, Mickey Morandini, went on to play Major League Baseball with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs.

Bob lives in West Leechburg with his wife Joni, a kindergarten teacher, and their three children ages seven to ten.
