Penn State New Kensington's first-year women's softball team split a pair with host Community College of Beaver County to even its record at 4-4 in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC). The Lady Lions dropped the first game 9-1 but took the nightcap, 6-3, to hand CCBC its first defeat of the year. Jennifer Eshbaugh (Kiski Area H.S.), Erica Mack (Highlands) and Jessica Kane (Plum) led the 11-hit attack as pitcher Jackie Paulice (Burrell) picked up her second win of the season.

The golf team, 2-0, led by medalist Jon Sirois' (Presque Isle, Me.) 81, placed three players in the top four at a tri-match on April 15 at Grand View Golf Course. Freshman Mark Ficco (Greensburg-Salem H.S.) shot 87 followed by fellow Greensburg-Salem alumnus Rob McCowan's 90. The Lions return to action on April 17 against Penn State Beaver at Seven Oaks Country Club before hosting a quad-match on April 22 at The Links at Spring Church.

The baseball team, 1-1, hosts Penn State Fayette, April 17, 4:00 p.m. at Freeport Community Park and travels to Fayette for a noon doubleheader on April 19.
