AK Sports Kiski Area Baseball Team in State Tournaments
Kiski Area played Pine Richlands in the WPIAL Baseball semi-finals on Monday. Even though the Cavaliers fell, they have earned a berth in the State tournament June 7th. See over 100 photos from the semi-final here:

Veterans of Freedom There For The Iwo
James “Red” S. Foley of Lower Burrell has seen at lot in his life, but being just off shore and witnessing the raising of the United States flag at Iwo Jima tops it all. He was a very young Marine headed for his first combat on February 23, 1945, when at 10:30 a.m. he raised his head and saw the historic event. The famous Iwo Jima flag-raising photo was actually a second time at 2:30 p.m. when a larger flag was used.

Parting Shots Math Champions
On April 13, 2004, Buffalo Elementary in the Freeport Area School District held their annual math competition called Twenty-Four. Neal DeCroo, a 6th grader, and Kevin Keppel a 5th grader, were the champions for their grades and now proceed to the Western Pennsylvania championship at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The boys are proud to be representing their school.

A-K Public Service Youth United Against Homelessness
Imagine being in the market for a house. Your list of amenities is small. Walls, a door, maybe a few windows, and some carpeting is all you ask. Youth United, a supplemental initiative to Habitat for Humanity, constructed this humble abode out of cardboard as part of a fundraiser for an entirely youth-built Habitat house. Prospective buyers viewed the home April 16th and 17th in the Riverview Plaza parking lot, New Kensington, during The Encampment.
