Wireless Nightcourt
Due to cost constraints in Westmoreland County, authorities have eliminated night court staff. However, night court is not completely done away with as some have thought. It is simply decentralized. Local municipalities are now required to have high-speed Internet connections to participate in the new, upgraded night court process.

With a love of history and the heart of an explorer, Don Stevenson set out on a journey along the Kiski River in Apollo. His search was for evidence of mainline canal boundary stones. Not only did he find what he was looking for, he found a new passion to which he has devoted the last twelve years of his life. In the positions of President and Board Member of the Roaring Run Watershed Association, Don has played a vital part in cleaning up the Kiski River and creating a wonderful outlet for families to enjoy.

125 years ago, it was just a part of the Townsend farm—nothing more than just a deep ravine with a creek in it, its’ slopes adorned with a grove of fruit trees. In 1895, a town was built on the site. But the grove and ravine stayed and a gazebo and picnic stand were built there in the woods. The town’s citizens celebrated July 4th there.
