Lead Stories . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . Blast off!
When the Space Shuttle Atlantis landed on September 22nd, six ecstatic astronauts emerged amidst cheers. Before this mission even took place, however, two area boys flew to Huntsville, Alabama on their own NASA adventure. In August, Allan Goldstrom and Cody Deluisio blasted off on their once in a lifetime opportunity, a trip to Space Camp.

The Dedicated Caring For the Forgotten At 90 Years of Age
Tom C. Evans of Gilpin Township is more active at the age of 90 than most young people. He also still works every day caring for things that most have forgotten about. On the Board of Directors at Evergreen Cemetery since 1950, he also has been caretaker for over 30 years. Although not as active as in past years, he still cares for the cemetery everyday. When you consider that Evergreen Cemetery has over 4,000 buried there over 15 acres of land, it is no small task to keep track of everything.

Our Local Heritage Horseradish, A Statue and A Church: Guess-A-Town
Can you guess this Alle-Kiski town? It is named after a man who was not blunt, its most famous citizen was almost always in a pickle (and in the early days, playing ketch-up), a famous Native American lived here before the town started, and very likely you have passed by one of its churches’ towers that peek above RT 28.

Peppers are fun to cook with especially when you get a variety of colors. This is a great family meal and boasts of light calories with lots of flavor. Using the freshest ingredients always gives a boost in flavor. If you only have the canned or dried alternative, give it a shot, it will still taste great.

A-K Dining New Davison’s Restaurant Packed
Last Sunday Shorty Davison stuffed 80 pork chops for the Sunday Special Dinner. There were no more by the end of the day. “I guess I’ll have to increase my number of pork chops,” Shorty said. Located at their new building at the former Cooper Station on Route 356 (near Lernerville Speedway in Winfield Township), the restaurant has been packed. “It’s nearly double capacity,” Shorty said, “and we fill the two front dining rooms”.
