I went to school with a girl who often missed school to sing…talk about not knowing someone!! Wynonna Judd became famous a few years after we graduated! Over the years she has been at the top of her field and among the best in country music. She even rode my bus, and I was unaware of her talent. It’s like that here in our schools’ athletic programs, which are filled with young men and women grittily determined to be the best in their sport.

William H. Bowers of Clarksburg has a family history of military service that dates back to the American Revolutionary War in the 1700’s. He traces this history from the 1700’s to the Civil War where his great grandfather served in the German Division. A going away dinner for another son provided the perfect occasion for our family to visit the restaurant at 655 Rodi Road in Penn Hills. Thirteen of us went and we had one of the best dining experiences in a long time. I can tell you I’ll be going back soon.
