The Pittsburgh Molly Trolley
Next Friday marks the beginning of an exciting weekend of community events in Plum, which are centered on the holiday season. Borough officials, schools, churches, community members and local organizations have worked hard to pull together to orchestrate this year's "Sugar Plum Days". This year's events will occur on December 13, 14, and 15, in various locations throughout the borough of Plum. From 7pm to 10pm the Plum Borough Building will have a train display, quilt display and display of the Plum Borough Flag. There will also be Rocky Mountain Kettle Korn sold outside the borough building. At the same time there will also be an art exhibit by the East Suburban Artist's League, a teddy bear collection, seniors crafts for sale, entertainment, and refreshments at the Plum Senior Community Center from 7pm to 10pm on December 13, and from 1pm to 5pm on December 14. The Allegheny Foothills Historical Society located in the Carpenter Log House, Pierson Run Road, will be holding an "old fashioned Christmas" on December 13 from 7pm to 10pm and December 14th from 1pm to 7pm. There will be period dress and decorations as well as musical selections throughout and refreshments. There will also be a visit from Santa himself.

The East Suburban Family YMCA, located at 2200 Route 286, will be presenting programs on December 13th from 6pm to 9pm and December 14th from 1pm to 7pm. There is no charge for any of these events. December 13th

In addition to the entertainment, there will be trees on display in the YMCA gym that were decorated by youth organizations. If you would like to find out more about the East Suburban Family YMCA, go to www.esymca.org On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Molly Trolley will be transporting people from King's Family Restaurant to the Carpenter Log House for a tour of the house and then back to King's. The cost for the round trip is only $1. There will also be a hay ride available which will pick up at the Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley and ride to see a display of Disney characters.

The Plum Community Library, located at 445 Center-New Texas Road will be holding workshops, crafts, and serving refreshments from 10am to 5pm on December 14th. Families can make holiday crafts at the make-it and take-it table or create ornaments for the Plum Family Ornament Tree.

You will also want to check out the community sing-a-long that will be held at O'Block Junior High School located at 440 Presque Isle Drive on December 14 at 8pm and the Live Nativity at the Plum Creek Presbyterian Church from 5pm to 9pm on December 14 and 15. There is a $2 charge for the nativity.
