Kiski Area Band at Youngstown
The Kiski Area Marching Band competed in a Bands of America Regional Competition at Youngstown State University on Saturday October 18, 2003. Over thirty bands from six states competed in the day-long competition. Kiski's Big "K" band placed first in the AA class, earning the title of Youngstown Regional Class Champion. Classes are determined by a district's high school enrollment, AA being schools districts with a high school enrollment of 601-1149.

In earning its Class Championship, Kiski was won all three "caption" awards in its class for outstanding music, outstanding visual performance and outstanding general effect.

Kiski also competed with the ten top rated bands at Youngstown, earning second place, a three hundredths of a point behind the winner Centerville Jazz Band from Centerville Ohio. In the class-wide competition of the top ten bands, Kiski earned the award for outstanding visual performance and shared the award with Bellbrook (Ohio) for outstanding music performance.

Several other western Pennsylvania bands also competed at Youngstown, including Norwin, Beaver, West Allegheny, Gateway, and Elizabeth Forward.

Kiski's next competition will be at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA) championships where 24 bands will compete on Saturday, November 1 at Elizabeth Forward High School.
