A local New Kensington family was homeless for over two years and then was blessed by the local Habitat for Humanity organization with a new home. Tragically everything was lost on September 17, 2004 in the local hurricane rain flooding. The Moore Family’s home was on a slab and 16 inches of water quickly filled the home along Route 366, that day.

"Not only was this house damaged, they lost everything – nothing can be saved because of contaminated water, as with many along the same street, Lincoln Blvd. in the Lincoln Beach section of Upper Burrell Twp. And to add insult to injury, those that had 'flood' insurance are not covered. What?, you say? It was the wrong kind of flood is what one resident was told."

"Whatever the circumstance, this small community needs help, our Habitat Family needs help, and I know that many other area residents need help."

"Help anyway that you can, anyone can. Donations for this family may be sent to Habitat for Humanity Allegheny Valley PO box 147 Natrona Heights, PA 15065 – mark the donation 'Moore Family'. If you would like to help the neighborhood of Lincoln Beach, mark it 'Lincoln Beach'. We will see that the money is used as you designate."

The Allegheny Valley Chapter for Habitat for Humanity is helping the Moore Family get back into their home in Upper Burrell. The Moore family will be getting all new appliances and the walls are being cut out and repaired.
