Kiski Valley Lancers - Knights Team - 2004

Saturday, November 20, 2004, the Kiski Valley Lancer youth cheerleaders and football players had their year end celebration. For the last three years the Lancer organization has done something a little different for the kids who play for them. Instead of having a banquet at a hotel, the organization had decided to do something fun for the kids.

The kids got to spend the evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Allegheny Valley YMCA. The night is filled with fun in the pool, a pizza party and games in the gym. At the end of the evening the kids get their trophies and awards.

There are four age groups of teams for football and cheerleading at the Lancer organization. The older two football teams that range in ages of 10-13 go to camp for a week during the summer, in the mountains near the Seven Springs Ski Resort.

Football is a very dedicated sport. Practice is every weeknight in the summer and ranges from 2-3 hours a night. When school starts, the boys drop one night of practice. The girls are also on a busy schedule in the beginning to make sure that they learn all their cheers and half time routines before the first game.

The Kiski Valley Lancers is based in Vandergrift and practices are held at Kennedy Park. Players are not restricted to being only from the Kiski Area School District.
