Community Building

Allegheny Township is experiencing increased growth and development in recent months is planning to renovate the current community building. The township is considering breaking ground in the beginning of 2005 for a new police head quarters. The Allegheny Township police now reside in the township building and the plan is to have a new building complete by the end of 2005.

New Sports Fields

In 2003, Allegheny Township leased property at the bottom of Pine Camp Road, to the Kiski Valley Lancer’s Organization (a youth football and cheerleading organization based in Vandergrift). According to Dave Soboslay at the Allegheny Township office, the Lancer’s are looking to get grants from local politicians. They would also like to have a fence surrounding the game field area before construction is started. This will keep out the off road vehicles.

Two practice football fields, one game field, one softball field, and a concession stand are some of the features that will be in the new sports area. Allegheny Township is doing what they can to help the project move forward.

No walking trails will be developed by the township in the near by area due to acid mine drainage. The DEP is doing a study right now on the drainage in the area.
