Allegheny Township, December 10, 2004

Allegheny Township Building
Allegheny Township will be working with FEMA regarding the road damage situation on Pine Camp Road in the township. During the flooding of September 17, 2004, Pine Camp Road had a large tree fall across the middle of the road right in front of the township maintenance building, blocking traffic in both directions for about a half hour. Another part of the road was like a raging river and washed out the upper end of Whitey Road and has since been repaired.

In between these two incidences, another part of the road was about to collapse due to a steep slope over the side and raging waters running over it that day. Pine Camp Road was turned into a one lane road at this point and cement barriers were put in place.

FEMA is working with the township on 12 plus locations and Pine Camp Road is one of them. This repair will cost close to $750,000 to fix. The township is waiting for analysis of recent boring sample and for engineers to develop drawings. After this, bids will go out. Funds have not yet come in from FEMA but Allegheny Township is moving forward on the project.
