Kiski Area School District - 2004 Telethon Crew

The Kiski Area School District Christmas Telethon is an annual student-produced event. The main events took place this week (December 13 to 17) on Channel 8 and live web cast from HighVision Studios in Vandergrift. Pre-recorded tapes of students at elementary schools in the district and other locations such as the Casino Theater and K-mart were aired in the evening. Besides live and taped productions, there was also an auction, a raffle, a "change drive" in the schools, and a bake sale.

The two charities that are being supported this year are St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank and the Salvation Army. Proceeds are dispersed equally. Last year the telethon raised over $20,000. They are not done yet for this fund raising season. There will be a battle of the bands in January and 100% of the proceeds will go to charity.

Student Council, assisted with their co sponsors, the Technology Service Team for Kiski Area High School ran the event. Student Council has a telethon committee that begins planning in October. The committee asks local businesses for support and receives donated items.
