Red Pine Trail

Mason Heberling, son of information sciences and technology program coordinator Gary Heberling, is doing his Eagle Scout project by working on the Penn State New Kensington Nature Trail.

Last week, Mason and about 15 PSNK students cut a new trail loop for the .5 mile trail. Under the direction of Bill Hamilton, assistant professor of biology, Mason constructed a new trail head sign for the trail, located in the southwest section of the PSNK campus.

Completed in 1985, the nature trail serves as environmental education resources for both the campus community and local area school districts.

The virtual trail was established in 1999 with a grant from Alcoa.
