Vandergrift pastors, at a recently held August meeting, are planning a September 11th Community Service of hearing the word of God, prayer, communion, and worship to bring about healing, hope and renewal in participant's lives. This will be the third year that the Vandergrift Ministerial Association has conducted these services. This year it will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Vandergrift and is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.

The Ministerial Association also approved a 5th Quarter program. The purpose of the 5th Quarter is to provide a safe place for the community youth to gather after home football games. The "5th Quarter" program will be an evening party with games, music, and food and will be open to area high school teens. It's scheduled to follow Kiski Area School District's last home game in October and will last from the end of the game to midnight. It will be held at the First Lutheran Church located at 101 Custer Avenue in Vandergrift.
