Last year's champ, Junior Tutchstone with the trophy |
Hockey has the Stanley Cup that is passed along each season to the best on the ice. Believe it or not, there is a trophy circulating the Alle-Kiski Valley for the best on the grill, for ribs that is. The 2nd Annual Rib Cook-off was held at Northmoreland Park this weekend. The traveling trophy was brought to the cook-off by last year's winner, Junior Tutchstone.

The cook-off was started by the First Baptist Church in North Vandergrift as a way for churches in the area to join together for fun, fellowship and lots of good food. Junior who attends the Apollo Assembly of God, won the championship last year. Because of this, his church was the host of this year's event.

There were several churches that participated, including the Morning Star Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of North Vandergrift and the Apollo Assembly of God. The pastors or selected leaders of each church were designated judges for the event. Besides a lot of great food, there were also games for the kids as well as adults and a wonderful time of fellowship.
