Valley High School Cheerleaders at Heinz Field

Middle School and High School cheerleaders from several different school districts in the Alle-Kiski region were on Heinz Field Saturday cheering for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers during their 45-3 assault on Toldeo. The Panther cheerleaders hosted the local squads down on the field during each quarter.

Kiski Area, Freeport, Apollo-Ridge, Allegheny Valley (Springdale), Highlands, New Kensington-Arnold (Valley), and Riverview were among some of the school districts who came to take part of the game. Each squad performed different cheers and routines, depending what was happening in the game.

Several non-area school districts were at the contest besides the Alle-Kiski schools, including Avella and Brashear. Some of the districts appeared to have brought along only Varsity teams, where others brought along Varsity, JV and Middle School cheerleaders. Each squad performed on the field for one quarter.

Squads who cheered on-field in the late third and early fourth quarters had to contend with a little rain and mist, but kept right on going in spite of what threatened to become a torrential downpour.
