Plum High School graduate Sean Clair

Plum's Sean Clair, a sophomore at Eastern Michigan University (EMU), was chosen as one of the wrestlers likely to finish in the top four of EMU's conference. Clair, who wrestled at Plum High School under Coach Chuck Froelich, was one of four wrestlers from EMU predicted to finish in the MAC top four. Two seniors and a junior made up out the rest of the four wrestlers. Clair was the sole underclassman selected from Eastern Michigan University. EMU is in the Mid-American Conference (MAC), the same college conference where Steeler QB Ben Rothlisberger played.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles

Last year, Sean Clair was ranked as high as 13th in the nation in one poll during the season before falling in the 2005-2006 playoff wrestle-offs. Wrestling at 125lb in high school and his freshman year in college, Clair will likely wrestle at 133lbs this season as a sophomore.

Plum High School Coach Chuck Froelich

Derek DelPorto, EMU's wrestling coach, is in his inaugural year as head coach ohn Lange. He formerly coached at Slippery Rock as head coach for two years, where he was named NCAA Division I East Regional Coach of the Year. Coach DelPorto, also wrestled at Slippery Rock in the late 90s and was a three-time East Regional champion who won the heavyweight title in 1998, 1999; and won the 177-pound title as a freshman in 1996; He also won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference heavyweight title in 1998.
