Washington Twp., September 20, 2007

On October 14, 2007 from Noon – 6:00 pm the Washington Twp. Vol. Fire Co., 4078 Route 66 (1/4 mile south of Route 380) is having our annual Safety Extravaganza, a family oriented day full of Fire Prevention and Safety information.

Be a firefighter for the day, try on bunker gear, cut a door off a car using the jaws of life, go into a smoke filled room and use a thermal imager. Do you know the proper way to use a fire extinguisher? Would your children know what to do in case of a fire? Let them explore the fire safety trailer and learn valuable life saving information.

What would your child do if they had to call 9-1-1 in an emergency? They can talk to a 9-1-1 operator in a simulated emergency call. Experience the DUI simulator course. Also this year the PA Freemasons will be there with their CHIP (child identification program) Program, this program provides parents and/or guardians with identifying information of your child, including DNA samples.

This program is provided at no charge and all information is turned over to the parents and/or guardian. Also attending are many other emergency response departments. See a live rescue demonstration. Watch the landing of a medical helicopter. Free bicycle raffle for all children. ATV safety information. Fire truck rides. Lots of food. Something for everyone to see and do. Our goal with this event is to bring the public and emergency services together for a day of valuable safety information in a fun filled atmosphere. Any questions please call 724-727-3079 and we will return your phone call or email us at fire@washingtontownship.com. Hope to see everyone October 14.
