Richard Vaerewyck

Richard Vaerewyck (15) of West Deer Township won top honors at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Convention in Grand Rapids, MI.

The yearly convention hosts over 20,000 rabbits and guinea pigs and 4000 exhibitors. They also hold youth educational competitions with 500 youth from around the world coming to compete. The competition is held over 3 days and includes written exams, judging, identification and interviews.

Richard won the national achievement award, the top overall award, as well as the title of King, awarded to the top 15 – 18 boy. Richard is an active member of 4H in Butler County and has over 100 animals including guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and ducks.
