Three full tuition camp scholarships for children are available courtesy of the Westmoreland County Parks Citizens Advisory Board. Deadline for scholarship applications is June 2.

Program offerings are as follows:
CAMPS FOR KIDS
“WILD THINGS” Camp Ages 8-12, $60: 10:30am to 3pm
Learn about fascinating insects and animals in their natural environment, through activities, presentations and crafts. Campers have the opportunity to interact with and examine the creatures first hand that have been brought to us by local experts. Space limited to 14 campers. June 18-20 Twin Lakes Park; July 21-23 Cedar Creek Park; August 4-6 Northmoreland Park
“WATER INVESTIGATION” Camp Ages 9-13, $30: 11am to 3pm
Ever wonder what's lurking in your local lake, or stream? Investigate the answer at Cedar Creek with activities such as learning about watersheds, examining water critters, tie-dying T-shirts and going on a creek walk. Space limited to 16 campers. July 28-29 Cedar Creek Park
“CSI: TWIN LAKES” Camp Ages 10-14, $70: 10am to 3pm
Help solve the mystery at “CSI: Twin Lakes" after learning about investigation techniques such as fingerprinting, making footprint molds, and using dogs to solve crimes. You will even get a chance to meet real crime scene investigators. Participants will analyze a mock crime scene! Space limited to 15 campers. July 14-16 Twin Lakes Park
“PEEWEE PLANTS AND ANIMALS” Camp Ages 5-7, $40: 9am to 12noon
Spark an interest in nature by involving your child in a camp filled with environmental activities. Children will explore an animal exhibit, create art projects, and play games. Space limited to 12 campers. June 9-12 Twin Lakes Park; June 23-25 Northmoreland Park
“TWIN LAKES SLEEPOVER ADVENTURE” Ages 8-12, $12: 7pm to 11am
Ever wonder what is happening in the great outdoors while you are sleeping? Come and find out! We will play games, make crafts, build a campfire, and take a night walk. Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. Space limited to 16 campers. July 25-26 Twin Lakes Park.
“SURVIVOR: MAMMOTH” Ages 9-13, $40: 10:30am to 3am
Live the experience you have watched on TV! You will be taught the skills needed for survival including first aid, directions, fire building, and creating a shelter in the great outdoors. You will participate in team building exercises that will test your ability as a team to engage in a challenge. Space limited to 16 campers. July 8-10 Mammoth Park.
PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES
“SCAVENGER HUNT” FREE! 1pm to 4pm
Go on a challenging scavenger hunt with your family and friends. Search the park to find all of the interesting items on your list. Refreshments and prizes for all participants. Space limited to 50 people. May 31 Twin Lakes Park; June 7 Northmoreland Park; August 9 Cedar Creek Park.
“IT’S JUST ROCKET SCIENCE” $3/person, 6pm to 10pm
Come spend the evening building and launching your very own rockets with your family and friends. Also study the night sky and enjoy creating your own star snack. Space limited to 50 people. June 13 Twin Lakes Park.
“FAMILY OVERNIGHT CAMP” $5/person, 7pm to 11am
Find out what happens in the park after everyone goes home for the day. Join us for an overnight stay as we play games, build a campfire, and go on a night walk. Experience traditional camping by staying in a tent. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. You are responsible for your own tent and camping gear. Space is limited to 50 people. June 27-28 Twin Lakes Park; August 1-2 Cedar Creek Park.
“NIGHT WALK” FREE! 8:30 to 10:30pm
What comes alive when the sun goes down? Take a walk through the parks to see and hear the wildlife either settling down for the night or just starting their night’s adventure. Small group leaders will help interpret the sights and sounds of the night. Also enjoy some stargazing and a campfire snack. Space limited to 50 people. May 30 Twin Lakes Park; June 6 Mammoth Park; July 11 Cedar Creek Park.
“SECRETS OF CEDAR CREEK” $3/person, 5pm to 8pm
Discover the geological rarity of an outdoor stalactite while taking in the beauty of Cedar Creek Gorge. Examine the "Indian Mailboxes" and their resident ant-lions with State Geologist Jim Shaulis after enjoying a pizza dinner with family and friends. Space limited to 50 people. July 18 Cedar Creek Park.
