Leechburg Elks Lodge 377 held their annual Flag Day Program on Saturday, June 14th in the Lodge Ballroom. . Each year, Elks Lodges all over the nation observe Flag Day which was started by the Elks in 1907. This years program was opened by the Kiski Valley Community Band, led by Pat Marco. The band played several patriotic marches and songs, to the delight of the audience, which included many veterans and their families. An Honor Guard of local veterans advanced the flag for this event. The Elks Flag Day Ritual was performed by Exalted Ruler William Carroll and the Lodge Officers. Dale Frederick PER, accompanied by the band, presented his stirring rendition of “Ragged Old Flag”. The Lodge then welcomed special guest speaker, retired US Air Force Major Anthony Shea Jr, who presented a talk on the origin of the National Anthem by Francis Scott Key and presented a slideshow featuring pictures of the Leechburg Community. After the program, refreshments were served. Lodge 377 thanks all who attended and participated to make this event honoring our flag a great success.
