Armstrong County, June 26, 2008

The Armstrong School District has completed the six-year plan that will drive educational opportunities for students through 2014.

Every six years, school districts rewrite their strategic plans. Towards that end, Armstrong School District convened a strategic plan steering committee and held a series of strategic planning steering committee meetings starting in November 2007. Committee members included students, parents, community members, support staff, teachers, administrators, and school board members. The committee met its goal to have the strategic plan finished by June, 2008, and it is now it is available on the Armstrong School District Web site.

The components of the comprehensive plan include the following:

  • Chapter 4 Plan
  • Professional Education Plan
  • Induction Program
  • Special Education Report
  • Student Services Report

“The District Strategic Plan focuses on what is best for our students and serves as a blueprint for continued success to achieve the mission of the Armstrong School District,” said Dr. Cheryl Soloski, Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for grades K-6 at Armstrong School District. “Implementation of the District Strategic Plan will enhance educational opportunities for all students.”

Community representative Brian Stanko of North Buffalo Township valued the opportunity of participating in the Strategic Planning Committee for the Armstrong School District.

“This was an excellent investment of time and effort into our children’s education. I look forward to seeing the plan approved and watching as the goals and strategies the strategic plan steering committee developed are implemented,” Stanko said.
