Major Anthony Shea Jr, USAF/Ret, Leechburg Elks Drug Awareness Chairman, recently presented two Drug Awareness assemblies at Leechburg Elementary School for the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.

Lieutenant Tom Dubovi of the PA State Police, District Magistrate Gary DeComo of Ford City, and Denise Marano from ARC Manor in Kittanning were featured as speakers.

Approximately 200 students participated in the two assemblies. Each child received a red ribbon, a Drug Awareness coloring book, book mark, and pencil, and a candy treat.The children were given valuable information on the effects of drugs on their bodies and their futures and were given the opportunity to have their questions concerning drugs answered by those professionals who deal with the results of drug use on a daily basis. The students were also invited to participate in the Elks Drug Awareness Poster Contest. This years theme for the contest is “Get Smart - Don't Start"..
