A local organization developed from combined efforts of the Alle-Kiski Revitalization Corporation and SeniorNet is working toward enhancing the lives of senior citizens. They feel that this can be achieved is by educating seniors in computer technology and making them comfortable with what they've learned. With this education a whole new world will be opened up offering countless opportunities to grow and share with others. And the instructors are senior citizens themselves.
According to volunteer instructors Joe Kelly and Bill Bradley the course has been very successful since it began. Since they have become instructors there they have seen over 300 people go through the class. In fact, they once attended computer classes through the program as well.
The first center was opened last year in New Kensington and the other two centers were just established in October. The next classes are going to begin in January. The classes cost $50 for beginners classes and the more advanced class runs about $30.
