"It has been a privilege to work with so many fantastic volunteers on this disaster," stated Armitage. The community was friendly and helpful making the experience even more rewarding.
She was one of 1,200 volunteers from across the country who came to provide emergency relievf to the victims of the hurricane. To date, the American Red Cross has sheltered 10,771 displaced people, served over 800,000 meals and snacks and distributed nearly 20,000 clean-up and comfort kits.
In the coming days and weeks of recovery, the Red Cross will continue to provide assistance to the people affected by Hurrican Lili as they begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of Hurrican Lili and thousands of other disasters across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.
