Verona Veteran Part of German U-Boat Capture
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/2569

When Joseph Opsitnick of Verona went into the Navy in 1943 he
had no idea that he would be part of one of World War IIs most
famous events. In fact, Joe’s wartime participation was rather
     quiet until this famous day.

Where Kids Get Love and Grow
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/2568

Madeline McCaskill knows a lot about kids. She and her husband
raised eight children, now ranging in ages 18 to 46 years old.
Two of these children were adopted. Currently she has twelve
grandchildren. Instead of sitting back after raising her big
family she headed right out the door to work in a Day Care
Center. That eventually led her to founding Ms M’s Happy Tots
Daycare and Learning Center at 4238 Verona Road in Penn Hills.

     Growing Church Gives
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/2567

Holiday Park Baptist Church got hit with two floods, one in
the fall of 2004 and one in January of 2005 that essentially
wiped out their lower floor. Then they needed to replace all
the duct work in the church and repair a roof leak On top of
that the church had made a commitment to replace their kitchen
with a new commercial one. That’s a lot for a small church
within a year, especially in finances. Although these
incidents were creating financial burdens, the church still
responded to others by giving a significant amount of money to
the victims of the Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

     OUR LOCAL HERITAGE

In The Pipe: While oil was being siphoned out of the earth
even in the Kiski Valley, Captain Jacob Vandergrift (who would
30 years later have a town named after him) was busy finding
new ways to transport oil. Besides making popular a method of
towing oil, he began investing in pipelines--a new means of
sending oil over long distances. By the late 1860s/early
1870s, he owned several pipeline companies outright and was
responsible for 30 % of the oil transport business. Captain
Vandergrift was well on his way to being one of the elite
industrial giants such as Rockefeller, Flagler, and Carnegie.

     http://www.whfoods.com/foodstoc.php

The World's Healthiest Foods have been selected because they
are among the richest sources of many of the essential
nutrients needed for optimal health. Site uses a concept
called nutrient density to determine which foods have the
highest nutritional value. Nutrient density is a measure of
the amount of nutrients a food contains in comparison to the
number of calories. A food is more nutrient dense when the
level of nutrients is high in relationship to the number of
calories the food contains. By eating the World's Healthiest
Foods, you'll get all the essential nutrients that you need
for excellent health, including vitamins, minerals,
