Veterans of Freedom: “God, Please Make It Quick”
     http://www.alle-kiskitoday.com/articles/2607

We will never fully understand the depths of what Joseph
Rodney Chapman (Rod) of Freeport experienced in World War II.
Today, at 84 years of age, trim looking, healthy and sharp as
a tack, you would never guess his pain and suffering resulting
from his final WWII battle. He believed at that moment he was
about to become a dead man. He was the last soldier alive on
the battlefield out of 187 men known to have been there. He
laid hidden and wounded from the shooting face down in a deep
dirt road tire track. Lying there with a knee wounded from
shrapnel and still alive, he quickly prayed, “God, please make
it quick” as he heard the German soldiers advancing on him.

     INTERNET NEWS

     Beware New eBay Scam

Several readers have told us they're getting a new eBay scam
message this week, and we've gotten several copies of it at
different email addresses ourselves. That in itself is enough
to indicate it's not legit, but it's fairly well done so some
folks might be fooled by it. This one purports to be a
message from an eBay member and says you're being contacted
about a transaction (in all the copies we saw, it's a Toshiba
DVD recorder, but it could be anything). Supposedly a seller
is requesting a credit for eBay fees because you decided not
to complete the transaction and you're asked to respond to
eBay about it. The message is full of text meant to assure
you it's real, including links to "how to protect yourself
from spoof email" and the statement that your registered name
is included to show the message originated from eBay. Many
will be tempted to respond and let "eBay" know that they
never engaged in such a transaction. Of course, if you click
any of the links to respond, you're going to end up at a
     phishing site. [Source: WXP News]

The Campbell Kids: July 4th, 1776, life changed for the six
Campbell brothers and sisters. They were captured near their
Ligonier home by Indians who smuggled them north to the Kiski
Valley, crossing the Kiski River near Saltsburg. Two
daughters were released and two sons escaped a few years
later. One was sold as a slave and one was killed. Read more
