           * He gave up karate. He spent a whole lot of time
pumping iron in the weight room and sprinting around Kiski
Area's swimming pool balcony for that special added hot-house
effect. He has carefully managed his weight over the past four
years, an incredible feat for most of us. And he has had to
spend a whole lot less quality time with his other love,
eating. But the result is that Kiski senior Mike Corcetti is a
championship wrestler with a 28-1season record.

           * I've been truly blessed. I've always had a great
family, a great place to grow up, and I want to maintain that
for the kids growing up today." For Mayor John Schmeck of
Plum, this is the desire that fuels his political motor.

          * Most successful gymnasts begin their training very
early in life and invest a large amount of time into honing
their skills on the mats, beams, vault, and bars. Kaysie Young
of Leechburg is an excellent example of this very thing.

Blue Slate: One of the earliest churches formed in the Alle-
Kiski Valley was begun in the very early 1800s near Freeport.
Called the Blue Slate congregation, because of a ream of blue
slate that meandered thru a nearby creek, it was the basis of
a church that still exists today. A more extensive history of
this and other churches founded during this time are on line.
